Fundraiser Sessions at the Beach

When setting up my business plan, I made sure Giving was right at the top. I know this company will only be successful if I first give.  (Amen, anyone?)

This year I plan to offer Mini Sessions at the beach to benefit Carter. He is a 2 year old who suffered a gunshot wound to the head earlier this year.

This is what Julie, Carter's grandma, has to say about what he is going through:

It happened about 12:30 am, Jan 23. He was in the hospital for two months. Initially he went to Memorial and was placed on a ventilator and went thru surgery to repair and clean up the two holes - entry and exit. They told us they were not sure what would happen and that he was in critical condition and in very bad shape and that it could go either way. When he got off the ventilator he could not talk, eat, drink, move his left side of body, roll over or crawl - they said he may not get his left side to work fully and they were going to put a feeding tube in his stomach. They said he was still not fully out of danger. They did not know the extent of his brain injury. They said the bullet traveled through a part of the brain where his impulses and creativity are.
After about two weeks or more at Memorial, he said a couple words and was looking better. Then, his Spinal fluids started leaking from his front wound on his forehead and would not stop, and he was very irritable and got to where he was lethargic and wasn’t even moving they rushed him to Riley’s intensive care. We were there for the remaining time - prob about 1 1/2 months - he had two more surgeries while there then was moved to a recovery floor then on to rehabilitation floor. They didn’t know if he was going to walk or be able to move his left side still. He did start eating without needing a feeding tube.
He came home not walking, only with assistance from someone and with a brace - he is now walking on his own, with difficulty, but walking😊 He goes to therapy two days a week - occupational and physical therapy. His hip is weak and is what makes his foot twist in while he tries to walk. His arm and hand is still not functioning although his arm has started to move more. They said whatever he gets back in the next 1, maybe 2, years is what he will be left with. Of course, we will not believe that and keep trying our hardest to get him fully recovered. They think he will not fully get his movement back in his left hand and do not still know the extent of his brain injury- he still can not crawl because his left arm and hand is not working and it is hard for him to roll over. He has started pulling himself up and standing - when we first got home he just scooted across the floor 😢😢
He has been having difficulty with repeating things a lot when he talks and acting out with screaming and hitting and pulling hair. Dr. does not know if this may be from his seizure meds or from his injury - they say the meds can cause irritatability. He also takes meds for his tone in his feet, leg, arm hand. We have several visits to Riley in the coming months for checkups and cat scans and some visits here at home with neurologist. It is truly amazing he has come this far. Thank God that he does have insurance to cover his medical bills, he has got a lot of therapy ahead of him.

Friends, I also have a 2 year old. This is one of the worst things I can imagine happening.

We have been praising God for Carter's amazing recovery.  He truly is an awesome God. Carter is doing so well, but still has a long way to go.  I want to help, even if it is in a small way.
