COVID stinks. It's a simple truth that has affected nearly every aspect of life, including so many couples’ wedding plans. For this sweet couple, everything seemed to change in an instant—date, location, even the size and scale of the wedding. But in the end, they created an intimate, relaxed celebration, which is exactly what she wanted.
While we can all agree that COVID has brought a lot of disappointment, I have found a silver lining in the form of these smaller, more meaningful weddings. There's less focus on the big wedding details and more on what truly matters—the love, the family, and the commitment to each other. As a photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing so many of these intimate moments, and I can honestly say that the depth of emotion in these gatherings is something truly special. I’m all in for photographing weddings like this, even with a mask on!
This particular wedding took place at the groom’s parents’ home in Elkhart, and let me tell you, it was stunning. The backyard had a creek running through it—a photographer’s dream! They set up a beautiful big white tent, which turned out to be a lifesaver since it rained right up until the ceremony. We had to duck under the tent between photos, but despite the rain, we got everything done just in time for the big moment. And then—thank you, Jesus—it stopped raining, and the couple was able to enjoy their wedding day without a hitch.
I’m so grateful to have been a part of this couple’s special day. Even through all the changes, their love shined brightly, and I think these photos truly capture the heart of their beautiful relationship.
