Why Printing Your Pictures Matters

I received a text message recently that really struck a chord with me. It read:

“Just wanted to make sure everything went through on the deposit? I loved the pictures from our last session so much and had saved them on my computer but didn’t get to print them because we were in the middle of remodeling our house. I went to print them a few weeks ago and my computer crashed. I cried because they were such good pictures, so I for sure don’t want to lose this date with you.”
— M

This is exactly why printing photos is so important. We love the idea of having our photos digitally stored, but let’s be honest: digital files can disappear, they get buried, or in the worst case, your computer crashes. And when that happens, the beautiful memories captured are at risk of being lost forever.

I got a text message recently. This is what it said:

A collection of printed photos placed next to a photo album—why printing pictures is essential for preserving memories physically.

The Importance of Printed Photos

We want photos we can hold in our hands—the ones we can pass around at family gatherings, pin on the wall, or put in a frame. But too often, our precious moments stay stuck on hard drives, where they’re easily forgotten.

In this particular case, I was able to send M her digitals right away, and I always back up my files locally and in the cloud. But if anything ever happened to me and I couldn’t be a resource anymore, I really want you to have printed copies of your memories. That’s why I encourage all my clients to print their photos. Don’t wait for disaster to strike!

Good news: My gallery site now hosts your photos for a long time, and you can order prints directly from it anytime—whether you need a few more for frames or decide you want a full set printed down the road. If you only ordered a couple of prints but now want to make an album or print more, it’s simple! The new gallery system allows you to access and order prints for as long as you need. Check out the new site for an easy and beautiful experience!

Help With Ordering Prints

I know many of you truly value printed photos, albums, and keepsakes, but the task of ordering them often gets pushed to the side when life gets busy. That’s where I come in.

During our ordering session, I’ll have a mock album ready, filled with my favorite shots from your session. We’ll sit down together, and you can make changes, swaps, and even add pages if you like. I make the process easy—you don’t have to do any of it on your own. These albums are beautiful, and they’re designed to live beyond your computer screen.

Feedback Request: Printed vs Digital

I’m curious to know your thoughts! Typically, clients either go for a package with digitals, an album, and a canvas or opt for all the digitals. But what if I included 4x6 prints of every image from your session as part of the digital package?

Would that add value for you? Would you prefer a printed set of photos in addition to digital files, or would you rather stick with just the digitals? I really want to ensure you have something tangible to take away from our time together. Let me know what you think!

You can always email me with your thoughts, and I’d love to hear your feedback on how I can help make your family memories last longer.

There’s something about holding a printed photo—the texture, the way it feels, the way it captures a moment in time. I’m here to help make sure that you never lose those precious memories. Let’s turn those beautiful photos into timeless keepsakes you can cherish forever.
