Picking a Location by Look - Part 2
When photography clients aren't sure where to have their pictures taken, I’m often given the freedom to select a spot I love. While I appreciate the trust, I also like to offer some guidance. So, in this post, I’ll share a couple of general location options to give you a visual. This is the second post in a three-part series.
The key takeaway is this: Your location choice can dictate the when of your session. Certain months are better suited for each of these looks. So, if one of these second options catches your eye, be sure to ask about the best time to schedule your session there!
Look 3: City
If you’re drawn to texture and love a bit of urban charm, the city might be the perfect setting for you. Whether it’s city streets or city parks, there’s no shortage of textures — from brick and concrete to glass reflecting light. Think rivers, fountains, gardens, and benches — all offering unique backdrops that add variety to your photos.
Pro Tip: Urban settings work wonderfully for sessions that want a bold, dynamic vibe with architectural elements.
Look 4: Campus
Let’s talk about one of my all-time favorite spots — Notre Dame. I’d be remiss not to include this iconic campus! It’s a popular location for a reason, and I can totally see why it’s a go-to for many. I’ve done family photos here too, and I can confidently say it’s a stunning choice.
However, timing is key when shooting at Notre Dame. The time of year can greatly impact the look and feel of your photos, so if you love this location, be sure to inquire about the best time to schedule your session for the ideal lighting and atmosphere.
Pro Tip: For those who want senior pictures at Notre Dame or a classic campus vibe, it’s essential to plan accordingly for the right seasonal setting.
