Grow With Me Series Finale! | Donnie and Leroy are 1
One of my favorite experiences ever happened this week — and I can’t wait for you to experience it with me.
This image is from a Grow With Me series, where I visit your family not once, not twice, but three times during baby’s first year to document all those incredible changes. You receive photos and a film from each session, and after the one-year session, I create a final film that beautifully blends them all together into one emotional, full-circle story.
These sessions are both exciting and a little daunting — every edit feels like piecing together a love letter to time itself. I had great footage, but wasn’t sure how it would all come together with moments from Donnie and Leroy’s newborn and six-month sessions. Then, mom sent over six short clips from their NICU stay — two of them showing each baby giving a tiny, sleepy smile. I knew immediately they would be special.
When I found the right song (major This Is Us vibes, by the way), everything clicked. As soon as I reached the section where the NICU footage would go, I decided to experiment with a grid edit — just to see. I lined up the clips, hit play, and instantly burst into tears. I truly believe God had His hand in that moment. I didn’t change a thing after that — it was perfect.
So go ahead… watch it. Feel it.
And yes, it made me cry too. I’ve only ever cried at two of my films — this one was absolutely one of them.
