I’m the Photographer and Videographer For You If…

Documenting your family's right now is important to you (think: toddler voice, special relationship between siblings, how little they are (they are growing like a weed), a big change is coming (marriage, baby, etc).

When I was pregnant with my second, toward the end of the pregnancy, I started feeling this urgency to spend as much time as possible with my oldest. It seemed impossible that someone else could be given my whole heart. It felt like my oldest would suddenly be treated so unfairly, having to share us with another person. I thought I needed to pour as much as possible into him while I could, to tide him over til I had time for him again. Has anyone felt like that? That urgency to make memories and connect? Sounds like the perfect reason to book a session.

Another time this feeling was very real in my mind was when I had scheduled a family film session with my friend Krystal. Between me scheduling the session and her coming, we surprised ourselves by buying and selling a house. All of a sudden, this session had so much more value in my mind, because it would be a time capsule of our right now -and right now was about to change completely. We even had a lot packed. I strategically left a few spaces looking like home, while packing up the rest. It still makes me happy cry a little when I watch it back. A lot of the tears are for my kids, but a bunch are for my old house, too.

Celebrating the little things too… lost teeth, a lisp… the things will take you right back to your right now.

You value your own home videos from when you were little, and you may even have videos of your parents and grandparents that you love watching.

It’s less about what is coming in through your eyes and ears and more about what you feel when you watch them. That sense of history, the sense of belonging to someone, coming from someone or some place. Being able to remember the good memories and moments over the tough, hard parts of life. Feeling a connection to something bigger than just yourself, by noticing how your mom looks so much like your grandma, and how you look like the both of them. Noticing the way your child’s expression resemble a more distant relative. If this sounds like you, please do not put off calling me about a session.

You value "real" life in photos vs. posed photos (a lot of people refer to these as candid shots).

I love when someone asks me to take photos of them “just hanging out”. This gal did. So did this gal. It’s everything! I wrote a blog post about how I believe the real moments in my sessions ground them and make them so much better.

You take videos of your kids all the time but you don't know what to do with them besides let them get buried on your phone.

You are my people, you video loving maniacs! I can take those every day moments you love so much and elevate them to something that will make you lose your mind with joy, promise. PS- I also want to help you with the buried-on-the-phone bit. Just reach out and I can give you some tips to help unearth those treasures.

You cry at all my films even though you don't know the people (dead giveaway this is for you! hahaha!).

It’s the number one thing people say to me. At work, in social settings, when they figure out I’m that girl who does the family films… “oh my word, I watch every single one, and they all make me cry even though I don’t even know the people!”

Just imagine how you would feel while watching it if those people were your people!

I promise you will not regret it.

You love getting yearly family photos done at the park/beach/etc, but also have been bitten by the video bug. You don’t know which one you’d prefer, and you don’t want to do several sessions a year.

Perfect. Moving Portraits are my way of killing two birds with one stone. I’m the photographer and videographer for you if this session looks too good to be true. Here’s another. And another.

You value a traditional everyone-smiling-at-the-camera portrait just as much as the in between candid moments.

Listen, as much as I love the in-between moments (for goodness sakes, I’ve built my buisness around those very moments), I still print the everyone smiling at the camera picture. Every single time. I honestly can’t imagine not continuing doing traditional family portrait sessions. I’ll keep being your photographer for these sessions if that’s what’s right for you!

You aren't quite sure your kids will sit still for a traditional photo session with another photographer. Play and movement is what I am after, so we could be a match made in heaven.

I take photos on the daily of 3 crazy boys. They rarely sit there and smile. Read, never. So… I can chase and run with the best of them. I got you, do NOT worry about this.

Playful, energetic sessions are the best! This one is a great example.

You know there is beauty in your family’s simple togetherness, but you’re not quite sure how to capture that for yourself.

Playing in the living room, snacking at the kitchen table, piled on the big king bed, you wish someone would be able to press record on those every day giggles, snuggles and silly phrases. I’m that someone, and that’s my favorite session ever. This is a beautiful example.

If we sound like a match made in heaven, we probably are. Email me by clicking the button if you want more information.
