The Smith Family | Film and Portrait Session

Film sessions are my favorite, guys.

There’s this one. And this one. And don’t forget about this one! Some of you come to me and tell me how much you love them, that you don’t even know these people and you’re crying, that you want to bring me to the house, or the lake. But…

Sometimes there is a But!

“But we are boring.”

“But our house is a mess and we haven’t been able to renovate it yet.”

“But we don’t know what to do in front of the camera.”

Ok, guys. I kinda get it. I still think you should really consider a traditional Family Film. What we can capture with video beats pictures every time. However, for those of you that struggle with the idea, this is your solution. I am so excited about this.

Moving Portraits

These are photo/video combo sessions. You get dressed up like you’re getting family pictures. (Because you are!) But then you also get a video of our time together. These look a little more “portrait” than my regular documentary approach, but they are still a great way to time-capsulize (made that up) your family. A small downside is that there isn’t as much opportunity to get voices recorded. That’s a point in the traditional film column. Having admitted to that, I still hope my calendar just FILLS RIGHT UP with these for 2021!

Shall we get to it, already?

Is time playing tricks on us?
The way that we’re moving, the days feel like hours to me.
— Emorie, "Melody"

I love it, but I want to make sure they love it, too. This is what Brittany had to say about it (I’m blushing

I LOVE our Moving Portrait Film so much. It is such a treasure that our family will cherish. Our film brings moments to life in a way that pictures can't quite capture! Lindsey is a master at her craft and always looking to learn and grow in her skill in order to create the best products for her clients. It was clear Lindsey spent sufficient time preparing for our Moving Portrait Film by finding a great location, considering the lighting and details, and visualizing ideas for our session. Our family just showed up and had fun! She has such a gift for capturing such beautiful moments; some special and unique moments, but also bringing magic to the ordinary family interactions. She put them all together to tell an incredible family story with her work. I am such a fan of the Moving Portrait Film and can't wait to see more of what Lindsey creates with these!

This video made me feel so sentimental as I watched a glimpse of our life and focused in on the beautiful interactions with those I love most! Watching this film helps me cherish the giggles, smiles, and expressions that often change and evolve through the years as kids grow and change! It is a reminder to me what an honor it is to raise this little family! The lyrics ring so true to me! "Life is a song, it's a sweet melody. Your story is whatever you want it to be. We're in this together. We're one family." My three Favorite Scenes: Sienna lifting Delaney up as she flapped her arms, Sienna swinging on the rope looking at the camera, & all three kids standing laughing together.

My goal for these sessions is to deliver a great video and about 30 images. Here are some of my favorites!

These outfits, this location.. it looks dreamy doesn’t it? I hope you will consider a Moving Portrait session for 2021 if you’ve been hesitant to book a family film.
