There is a letter board in the living room in Kara and Dan’s house. As I walked by and saw what it said, I had to take pause. It is the perfect quote for anyone who believes that Family Films are an important keepsake.
“There is no such thing in anyone’s life as an unimportant day.”
Yes! That’s what I have been trying to show you. Your family’s every-day, no matter how ho-hum or uneventful it is, has beauty. That’s what I love to show you. Another family film artist recently told me this great advice: no day will ever look exactly like it looks today, ever again. Whoa. We don’t even realize what is changing right in front of our eyes. I wish you’d come let me preserve those voices, those looks, those wiggles, for you to be able to take off the shelf in several years to watch again.
Kara admitted feeling excited for the reminder of how beautiful her right now is. We can all relate, especially after a difficult year that posed many challenges. I hope that this film gives her, Dan and the boys, a glimpse at how much it matters to take some time to Be Here Now (as her tattoo says) and enjoy one another for an afternoon. There is so much beauty in this.
This song repeats the refrain, “You are good for my heart.” This was good, so good, for my heart to work on. I hope you love it as much as I do.
