Top 10 Moments Captured with a Photograph in 2021, Mishawaka Family Photographer | Part 1

I had so much fun putting the Top 10 Moments Captured on Video Posts 1 and 2, that I decided to the same for my favorite photography moments captured last year. I really had an awesome year, which is directly because of you guys, the best clients ever. These last two years have been tough for so many people. I wasn’t sure if you’d all want photos taken or not. You guys kept me just as busy as always, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

You’ll see here in these photos, that while I specialize in “Family Photography”, that’s really quite a broad statement. If you don’t like finding a new photographer for each stage of your family’s growth, you’re in the right place. I start with your family when those kiddos are born. You don’t need to find a “Newborn Photographer”. When you’re ready to capture their toddler antics, here I am! Since my family sessions all have individual photos included, I can even squeeze a few senior portraits into your family session. You won’t be needing to find multiple photographers, and you’ll have a consistent service, product and gallery every time. Yay!

This session was so special because during the visitor restrictions of 2020 that continued into 2021, birthing mothers were only allowed to have 2 visitor badges. This mom gave her husband one of her badges and she gave the other one to me. I think that was the most valued I have ever felt as a photographer. It really put the pressure on me to deliver great photos! Haha! Seriously, though. What a tremendous honor. I want to show off this favorite from their session. I love the hospital hat, socks and bracelet. I love seeing mom’s IV. I especially love that wrinkly back and the little smile on mom’s face as she looks at her brand new blessing.

I really hope more Fresh 48 hospital sessions are in my future, especially if hospitals are able to lift restrictions. This was an awesome moment for me. The rest of this baby’s session is on the blog here.

This shot comes from a family film session I did in Cincinnati, OH. The whole film was a blast to work on. She wanted her normal weekday evening captured, and we totally nailed it. I love that it truly was a great time capsule of exactly what their days were like in the Summer of 2021. I wonder how different their weeknights will look in 2022. Isn’t it amazing when you look back and see how different something is, yet it was just a series of gradual unnoticeable changes that got you there? Blows my mind a little. Anyway, this little guy was picking out his bedtime story with perfect side light, in a expertly decorated nursery. I love the posture. You can feel him trying to decide! :) His film and the rest of his photos are here.

There are a gazillion beautiful moments from this family’s moving portrait session. This one keeps me coming back. I love the way mom looks at daughter, and the way dad is looking forward to them as well. It just makes me smile. <3

Moving portrait sessions are like one of my older family photo portrait sessions, but with video also. They are really the best of both worlds for someone that likes the idea of getting pictures taken for Christmas, etc, but with a more honest feel. I love these sessions so much. They are a good bridge between regular pictures and my at-home video sessions. I encourage you to check out their whole post so you can see how great it would be for your family.

Huge smile when I pulled this one into the editing software. The family that plays together stays together. There is so much going on here. Layers, background, foreground, different moments of connection, no one is doing the same thing, but yet they are all there, connected in one frame. I love it! It’s kind of perfect, and if this was my family, I would blow this one up pretty big and put it somewhere special. :) It was a perfect fall day for family pictures in Mishawaka at a new-to-me meadow location, and these guys were great! You can see the rest here and you can see just how HARD picking only 10 pictures from all my sessions is. Gahhhh.

I love his hand on her chin. I love their smiles, and how they are both partially hidden from us, like a little portion of their moment isn’t for us to see. I love the casual every-day clothes, and how the lie that tells us you have to get all dressed up for great pictures is completely shattered here. I love the embrace. I love how you can almost hear him start to giggle. Such a great moment here. Their film was a special magic on the most beautiful property ever. See the film and photos here.

Oh man, such great moments! I will be back with Part 2 of this post next time, when you can see the Top 5 moments captured by my camera last year. <3
