Union Pier and New Buffalo Extended Family Photos

During the first week in October, this Chicago family rented a Union Pier townhome for a getaway with the grandparents. Booking family pictures was important to mom because of how much her kids have grown to love our beautiful beaches, such a short trip over from the city.

Working with extended families is one of my favorite parts of my job. When I see the value that these families have on spending quality time together, it encourages me that one day my grown up kids will want me around! Planning for these sessions can be a little tricky though. We had exactly one day that this session would work, so I prayed for good weather. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the beach that morning, it was super windy! This family wanted to give it the old college try, so we spent about 10 minutes down on the sand. We quickly pivoted to Plan B - the Galien River County Park is right down Red Arrow Highway in New Buffalo, and is set back from the lake just enough that we didn’t have the hurricane force winds to contend with! Ha!

I’m so thankful when a family is flexible and trusting of me!
