3 Reasons St. Patrick’s Park is a Great Place to Take Family Pictures

On the North Side of South Bend, there is a beautiful park known for it’s nature. People come to St. Patrick’s Park looking for quiet and activity. Canoeing on the river, cross country skiing, and hiking it’s paths are some of it’s main draws. The bald eagle nest and the new nature playground are also great reason’s to visit. (I’ve been really wanting to take my kids to play! Have you been?) What you may not know, is that it is one of the best places to take family pictures in the South Bend area! Here’s why:

  1. Easy Access

The south east part of the park that hugs the road is easy to find, and the walk is short. Parking is also plentiful and easy to get to. This makes it such an obvious go-to for families full of little legs. You won’t have to hike out forever to find a great spot to take pictures. Your toddlers and preschoolers will have a very short walk from the place I’ll ask you to meet me. You’ll only need to hold them a short distance, if at all. I get nervous finding someone at a big county park. You won’t have that problem here. This location within the park honestly couldn’t be easier to get to and find!

  2. Structure

I love shooting photos in wide open fields. I have plenty of favorites places in that category. A county park usually has beautiful fields PLUS some structure like paths, gardens or sculpture. At St. Pat’s, the star of the show is the bridge. It’s a popular place for family and senior pictures because the wood bridge is right next to the gorgeous fields!

  3. Great in Fall

For families wanting an updated photo for Christmas cards, the fall photo shoot is almost a must! This park really has great color in mid to late fall, but early fall has the beautiful texture in the fields. It’s a win/win whether you schedule your photo session in late September through Early November.

Many Michiana families select this beautiful location, especially those from the north side of South Bend, Granger and Niles! It’s so convenient and close. Should we try it for your next shoot? I think so!
